{"id":52,"date":"2004-01-20T19:36:31","date_gmt":"2004-01-20T19:36:31","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2004-01-20T19:36:31","modified_gmt":"2004-01-20T19:36:31","slug":"court-strtucture-criminal-and-civil-procedure-new-anti-social-behaviour-powers-now-in-force","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.sixthform.info\/lawblog\/?p=52","title":{"rendered":"Court Strtucture, criminal and civil procedure: New anti-social behaviour powers now in force"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The single biggest package of measures to tackle anti-social behaviour comes into force today gives people new tools in their fight against neighbours from hell, intimidating groups on their streets and potentially lethal firearms. <\/p>\n<p>The Anti-Social Behaviour Act 2003 includes measures to: give <strong>county councils and housing action trusts<\/strong> permission to apply for anti-social behaviour orders, helping to tackle <\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>nuisance neighbours; \n<li>close crack houses; \n<li>disperse groups causing harassment or intimidation; \n<li>place restrictions on ownership of airguns; \n<li>create a new offence of possession of an air weapon or replica firearm in a public place without reasonable excuse; \n<li>ban the sale and manufacture of high powered air weapons; \n<li>widen the use of fixed penalty notices &#8211; eg for noise nuisance, truancy, graffiti &#8211; and apply them to 16 to 17 year olds; \n<li>and lift automatic reporting restrictions on anti-social behaviour orders on conviction in youth court.\n<ul><\/ul>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hmso.gov.uk\/acts\/acts2003\/20030038.htm\">Anti-social Behaviour Act 2003 here<\/a><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/li>\n<\/li>\n<\/li>\n<\/li>\n<\/li>\n<\/li>\n<\/li>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The single biggest package of measures to tackle anti-social behaviour comes into force today gives people new tools in their fight against neighbours from hell, intimidating groups on their streets and potentially lethal firearms.
