{"id":526,"date":"2008-04-17T16:23:30","date_gmt":"2008-04-17T15:23:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.sixthform.info\/lawblog\/?p=526"},"modified":"2008-04-28T21:52:50","modified_gmt":"2008-04-28T20:52:50","slug":"common-sense-has-prevailed-%e2%80%93-the-judge-the-apple-core-and-the-council","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.sixthform.info\/lawblog\/?p=526","title":{"rendered":"Common sense has prevailed &#8211; the judge the apple core and the council"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"MsoNormal\">According to Judge Nicholas Webb at Wolverhampton Crown Court, common sense has prevailed when lawyers for Wolverhampton City Council, offered no evidence against Kate Badger, 26, who was accused of dropping an apple core.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The case has already cost taxpayers thousands of pounds and a trial before a jury would have cost up to \u00c2\u00a35,000 a day.<\/p>\n<p>Miss Badger was not the person who threw \u00e2\u20ac\u0153controlled waste\u00e2\u20ac\u009d from her Volkswagen Golf parked in a Wolverhampton street on 19 March 2007.<span> <\/span>But, council chiefs wanted Miss Badger to pay a \u00c2\u00a360 penalty notice for the offence but she refused and elected go to court.<span> <\/span>Only at court did she identify who was responsible.
