He succeeds Lord Hoffmann who is retiring.<\/p>\n<div class=\"img alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-873\" style=\"width:150px;\">\r\n\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sixthform.info\/lawblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/04\/kerr_brian_law_lord-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"kerr_brian_law_lord\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/>\r\n\t<div>kerr_brian_law_lord<\/div>\r\n<\/div>Sir Brian was called to the Bar in Northern Ireland in 1970; Bar of England and Wales in 1974; took silk in 1983; High Court judge in Northern Ireland in 1993; Lord Chief Justice of Northern Ireland in 2004.
